To prepare one, 13 quart bed

• 66 quart mono tub
• 10 quarts CVG substrate
• 4 jars (3 quarts) colonized grains

grain prep
4 jars wild bird seed per mono tub

innoculate
your choice: agar, g2g, lc

colonize
MS – expect some growth at 5-7 days
at 15-25% colonization, break it, shake it, and allow to continue
wait for full colonization on all jars

substrate
10 quarts CVG (Bucket Tek) per mono tub

liners
line the tub

dunk the grains
for each jar
– break up the grains
– smell and reject contaminated jars
– add grains to a stockpot
fill stockpot with cool water
let soak for 15 minutes to re-hydrate grains
drain carefully

spawn the tub
add 3/4 of substrate to lined tub (save 1/4 for casing later)
add hydrated grains
mix thoroughly and level
trim liner down to 1/2 inch
place lid
set aside until 100% colonized on top

case the tub
use remaining 1/4 substrate
apply 1/2 inch casing layer as evenly as possible
place lid
set aside until 25-30% of the casing is colonized

fruiting
patch the casing if needed
provide FAE

harvest
harvest when veils break on majority of fruits
– large spore drops will cause contamination
– better to harvest early
– if some caps open early, decapitate and wait for the rest

re-hydrate
mist or dunk

repeat
back to fruiting conditions
expect next flush within a couple of weeks
