simply oats and grass seed in a twist loc

To prepare one dozen, 1 pint twist loc containers

• bring 5 quarts water to a boil
• lower heat to medium
• add 7-1/2 cups whole oats
• cook 15 minutes at slow boil
• add 2 cups grass seed
• cook 10 minutes
• strain and cool
• load 1 pint twist locs with 1-2/3 cup grain mix
• PC 90 minutes

innoculate

• your choice: agar, g2g, lc

colonize

• keep twist loc lids on (loose fit)
• MS – expect some growth at 5-7 days
• at 15-25% colonization, break it, shake it, and allow to continue
• wait for full colonization on all containers

case the tubs

• use pasteurized substrate
• remove twist loc lids
• apply 1/2 inch casing layer as evenly as possible
• place pint containers in a mono tub, close lid
• set aside until 25-30% of the casing is colonized

fruiting

• patch the casing if needed
• bottom water
• provide FAE

harvest

• harvest when veils break on majority of fruits
  – large spore drops will cause contamination
  – better to harvest early

re-hydrate

• bottom water after each harvest and as needed due to drying

repeat

• back to fruiting conditions
• expect next flush within a week or so
