Bob and Lefty's Recommendations for Bass Fishing

Rod
  8-1/2 to 9 foot rod
  8 or 9 wt line, color - not important
    floating (bass taper) - 95% of the time
    intermediate for windy days, choppy water, or holding depth
    sink tip for lily pads (drop bend-backs into holes)
  
Leaders
  Floating: 9 to 10 foot, tapered leader (8 to 14 pound tippet)
  Sinking : 2-1/2 to 3 foot
  
Flies
  Clouser minnow - 1/100 oz eyes
  Red/White hackle fly
  Bend-back  (bare shank or lead wrap and/or cone head)
  Lefty's Deceiver (black or chartreuse/white w/flash)
  Half and Half (up to 7 inches)
  Poppers (butt end hangs low in water)
    floating minnow (Bob)
    cripple minnow (Bob)
    flat face (Lefty)
  Crayfish (bottom bounce, drift fishing)
