Rod
8-1/2 to 9 foot rod
8 or 9 wt line, color - not important
floating (bass taper) - 95% of the time
intermediate for windy days, choppy water, or holding depth

Leaders
Floating: 9 to 10 foot, tapered leader (8 to 14 pound tippet)
Sinking : 2-1/2 to 3 foot
